March sees the return of arguably the biggest motorsport there is, Formula 1, with the new season kicking off in Australia.
And that’s not the only fast paced action happening this month.
The biggest events include Nascar Las Vegas and the World Superbike Championships in Thailand, the Qatar MotoGP and the British Superbike Championships.
Here’s some of the highlights to look forward to this March.
Nascar Las Vegas – 1- 4 March
Widely regarded as the biggest and toughest race on the Nascar circuit. This four-day event is one of, if not the biggest, weekends in the sport.
Taking place from Thursday until Sunday will be the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in what is set to be tripleheader of pulsating action.
Formula 1
Barcelona Winter testing – 8 March
The final testing before the season begins happens in Barcelona. This is where F1 teams will have the chance to trial the new changes and improvements made during the end of season break.
Australian Grand Prix – 25 March
The F1 season begins in the southernmost state of mainland Australia, Victoria, where last season’s World Champion Lewis Hamilton will be hoping to win the race he lost last year to competitor Sebastian Vettel.
Hamilton will once again be the favourite to take this year’s Drivers’ Championship, but the likes of Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Daniel Ricciardo are among the chasing pack.
Qatar MotoGP – 18 March
The Qatar MotoGP takes place on a magnificent track on the outskirts of Doha at the Losail International Circuit.
If the 2018 edition is anything like last year’s race then fans are in for a treat. Unlike most MotoGP races this one takes place under floodlights and will be a fantastic way to start the season off right.
World Superbikes Thailand – 25 March
This will be the fourth instalment of the World Superbikes taking place in Thailand at the Chang International Circuit, which has been a permanent fixture on the calendar since 2015.
Marco Melandri will be hoping to pick up where he left off in Australia when he takes to the track for the second race of the season after coming out on top in both races in February.
British Superbike Championship – 31 March
The 2018 British Superbike Championship will spring back into action this Easter weekend at Donnington Park as Shane Byrne aims to retain his title.
Local rider Leon Haslam is being touted as a possible victor as fans hope for another fantastic season after 2017’s remarkable action saw ten different race winners.
Donington Park is one of the most unique tracks in the calendar and always produces some of the most intense action with its wide corners and long straights.
Amateur motorsport
There’s a host of track days this month with Donington Park offering a separate day for cars and bikes respectively.
Meanwhile Bedford, Brands Hatch, Snetterton and Anglesey will also be available to amateurs. Before booking your place at one of these track days, ensure you have everything you need.
